I’ve always been told I’m a dreamer. I like to think I’m an open minded planner. “Dreamer” has a negative connotation, insinuating a high risk of failure due to wildly unrealistic goals. I don’t plan to fail. While my goals may, at times, be wildly unrealistic, I like to think failure is never and option to those with an open mind. My opinion is swayed on a daily basis by events which I have no control over; by people I may or may not know, and in ways I may or may not see. All of this changes my opinion, and with a change in my opinion comes a change in my plans and dreams. I know if I don’t allow these new events in my life to affect me, I will fail. It’s as simple as that. To live, you need to allow your heart to beat. Life around you is your heartbeat. People will never be the way you want them to be, and life will never work out just as you planned, so success is all about the adaption to change. Its all about the acceptance of change, and the ability to make the most out of any situation. Not all bad situations are bad; sometimes they are the best. Not all good situations are good; sometimes they’re the most boring. And a good rule to live by is, most of them time when you think something is nothing there is always something there waiting to be made into something from nothing by your unique perspective on the situation. Part of the reason I spend countless hours (and dollars) on photography is because its a direct way for me to constantly view the world differently than a.) anyone else and b.) how I may normally see it. If you don’t challenge yourself, your brain goes numb. If your brain goes numb, you fall into habit. If you fall into habit, you will not be happy (if you’re like me). The moral of this story is plan. Plan how you see things working out, but don’t necessarily need to live exactly by it. Plan to lose your plan and plan again, because thats whats going to happen, and thats what makes it interesting. If everything worked out according to plan, well, how much fun would that really be? The fun is in planning it out, then figuring it out when it all breaks down.
